As The Toys, the most popular covers band in the Wisconsin, USA area, embark on a tour of the area, local sound and lighting rental company, Eliminator Audio, brings out its Turbosound inventory and adds a bit of Flex-ability to the mix.

The debut show for the new rig was on 10th January at the 800 capacity Bubs Irish Pub in Germantown, where Eliminator deployed six TSW-218 subs powered by three Crown Macrotech 9000i amplifiers, alongside six of its new Flex Array cabinets, situated in the "B" position and powered by Turbosound T-45 amplifiers.

Eliminator's Dave Dec manned the front of house position, with Scott Brewer at monitors and Matt McEvilly in charge of lighting.

"We own a total of 58 front of house cabinets currently, which includes a mix of TSW-718, THL-2, TQ-440, TQ-425, TWS-218, and Aspect TA-500s, along with 14 Turbosound TCM-15 monitor wedges," says Dec. "We switched from another system over to Turbosound eight years ago. The main thing we were looking for was a high output sound system that offered headroom for the festival work we do. We found that Turbosound had the best clarity, the warmest sound and has minimal reliance on electronic correction of the system, something that you don’t necessarily find with other manufacturer's products.

"We do over 300 events a year with our systems and 98% of our cabinets still have the original drivers! This makes Turbosound is a great investment, keeping repairs to a minimum."

Dec has found that Flex Array brings a whole new dimension to Eliminator's audio equipment.

"The even, stable, full sound is unbelievable," he enthuses. "This rig is the best one we ever have owned, right out of the box. For our club season we are ground stacking. The plan for the festival season is to fly the boxes. We are in the process of doing a demo on the fly bars, which are very well made and provide an extremely easy rigging system.

"The biggest advantage of the Flex Array is that we can use the system for both ground stack and flown situations with a simple rotation of the horns. We're very excited to bring such an incredible system to our festival offering.

"Promoters have always entrusted us to bring great systems to their events. I believe they are going to be blown away with Flex Array!"
