Turbosound nominated in four Club World Award categories

Club Systems International magazine's annual Club World Awards recognises the very best of the nightclub industry on the North American sub-continent. And the 2008 event sees Turbosound involved in no less than five award nominations in four separate categories.

With the nominees selected by the magazine's editorial team from a pool of online submission, Turbosound emerged as a popular choice, being nominated in the Best Sound Product, Best Sound System, Best Superclub and Best New categories.

The nomination for Best Sound Product is for the TA-500 Aspect® Wide, the cabinet's wide dispersion giving pinpoint accuracy without any loss of off-axis frequency. These qualities have meant that the TA-500 has proved extremely popular in nightclubs worldwide, from the Carling Academy in Oxford, UK, to Bliss Lounge in Clifton, USA.

The TA-500's popularity is further proved by Bliss Lounge being nominated in the Best Sound System category, along with Play @ Hom in Charlotte, N.C., which also features a Turbosound system.

Together with his partner and head of installation, Angelo Poulos, Joe Lodi - owner and chief designer of Bliss system installer Advanced Audio Technology - designed and installed the system comprising eight TA-500s and eight TSW-218 subs.

"More so than any other loudspeaker that I have ever auditioned, the Aspect series speakers hold together and sound amazing at high volumes," says Joe. "The owner wanted the very best of the best, so that's what we gave him!".

Pure at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas has been nominated for Best Superclub and sports a huge, multi-zoned Turbosound rig. No less than six separate areas feature a total of 28 TQ-308s, 15 TCS-215s, 12 TQ-315s, eight TCS-59s, six TQ-115s, six TXD-151s, four TQ-425s and two TSW-718s.

Installed by Scott Fisher, owner of The Wave Sound in Las Vegas, the Turbosound loudspeakers were chosen for their high quality and outstanding performance in the adverse acoustic conditions presented by the club's abundance of glass and other hard surfaces, along with an open floor plan.

"Turbosound provided great support on this install. I really enjoy their quality and service," notes Scott.

Finally, in the Best New category is LAX. Again situated in Las Vegas and sister club to Pure, the Luxor's LAX is another Turbosound installation by The Wave Sound.

With winners of the Club World Awards determined by a judging panel of industry experts (which is kept secret until after the envelopes are sealed), the ceremony, which takes place in Miami on 26th March, should see the great and good of the USA’s nightclub industry toasting the success of Turbosound - proving that there are still things that companies from little ol' England can do just as well as their American counterparts!
